The day after Thanksgiving is referred to as Black Friday, the shopping day to end all shopping days, quickly followed by Cyber Monday, when many people put their mice to work, shopping online. The day after that is Giving Tuesday, November 29, 2016.
Giving Tuesday is the international day of giving at the beginning of the holiday season. It was started in 2012 (Manomet Giving Tuesday started in 2014) by the 92nd Street Y and the United Nations Foundation as a response to commercialization and consumerism in the post-Thanksgiving season.
Giving Tuesday is an opportunity to balance materialism with philanthropy in a very public and social way. You can amplify the message of Manomet and tell the world why you’re part of the Manomet team. Now is the time to encourage your friends, family, and personal networks to join you.
